HexaLau is a merge game that features hexagon-shaped tiles. The player must merge four or more color- and number-matched tiles for as long as possible to earn coins and points and unlock new levels.
On a grid, the player slides tiles to open spaces adjacent to ones that have matching colors and numbers. When they align four or more in any direction, the tiles merge at the last selection point to create a tile that displays the sum of the numbers. For example, four blue 2 hexa tiles create a red 8 tile.
The game rewards the player with coins in the upper-right corner after each match. It also assigns points in the upper-left corner next to a gold star icon. If the player loses and starts over, it displays their last-best score next to a trophy icon in the same area.
HexaLau adds new tiles to the grid after the player makes any move that doesn't result in a merge. It previews the colors and numbers of those penalty tiles in the upper-center area. If any penalty tile appears on the grid in a position adjacent to three matching ones, the game automatically merges the set.
Eventually, the player can purchase access to a lightning bolt booster located in the lower-center area. This tool removes any single tile selected by the player.
